The benefits of green design
Homes and work places that are design with green standards are generally healthier, more durable and more cost-effective.

There are several systems available to certify the degree of "greenness" of your home. The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) is supported by the United States Green Building Council and is the most well-known certification method at this time. They have different levels of certification, but if your home earns the highest certifications (platinum) your home can provide the following:

• 60% reduction in energy cost
• 50% in water use reduction
• 70% of construction waste diverted from landfill

Beyond the health and environmental benefits, many local and state governments, utility companies and other entities across the country offer rebates, tax breaks and other incentives for adding eco-friendly elements to your life.
